What the pin below the slots tells you
Ground pin down
We cut the plate so the cord leaves the bottom edge and the printing on the face reads level. On an outlet wired this way the flat slots take the blades first, and the round hole stays clear underneath. Nothing about the cover changes how the outlet works; it only sits over the face of it.
Ground pin up
If the round hole on your wall sits above the slots instead, this shelf is not the one. We cut a separate plate for that layout.
